[Feature Request] Ability to Create a New WLAN for VPN

I would love to see an option in the GL.iNet firmware that allows users to create a separate WLAN specifically for VPN use. This would be extremely helpful for those who need distinct networks with different VPN configurations.

Currently, the only way to achieve this is by manually configuring OpenWRT, which means losing the user-friendly features that GL.iNet provides. Adding this functionality natively to the firmware would make it easier for users to manage multiple networks with varying VPN needs.

Is this something that could be considered in future updates?

Hi, When my below request gets implemented (in 4.8 firmware I'm told) I think that will cover what you want and you'll be able to set it up in seconds with easy GUI mouse clicks:

I have a few different VPN accounts but the two I use the most often do not have reliable Wireguard option and occasionally something will work through one VPN but not the other, given my Flint has 4 LAN ports and I rarely need any more than 1 LAN (occasionally 2) for VPN. It would be extremely helpful if I could run two OpenVPN client connections at the same time with easy gl.inet GUI ability to select which LAN ports are used for which VPN connection. For Example LAN ports 1 and 2 for OpenVP…

For example in the below mock up image I did for my Flint which is more involved than you asked about but maybe a more realistic example of what many people are after:

LAN 1, LAN 2 and Guest Wifi = Use VPN connection 1 (eg a Surfshark connection to Seattle)
LAN 3 = Use VPN connection 2 (eg an ExpressVPN connection to Miami)
LAN 4 and (non Guest) Wifi are not assigned to a VPN connection so would get direct local internet access without using VPN:

Basically can very easily assign any physical network port (or built in gl.inet wifi SSID) to any VPN connection and run multiple OpenVPN connections at the same time, what you wanted would be even simpler than this easy example.

I'm really excited for when this arrives but sadly it's not available yet, no 4.8 test build for my Flint v1 (only Beryl AX), I'm hoping they prioritise a 4.8 build for Flint (version 1) ASAP since such features need to be tested with a device that has multiple network ports, Beryl AX has 2 so can't give any useful testing feedback for gl.inet...
