Flint 2 (GL-MT6000 ) - bug reports - collective thread

My internet max upload is 115. I'd need to test iperf or something to see if I have the same issue. Perhaps later tonight.

I also didn't understand all this dissatisfaction. It was a mistake when they released this new firmware, they deleted the previous version because in the software repository they also placed packages referring to kernel 5.4.211 which was probably targeted at mt3000. But they'll correct it soon, take it easy...

If you really want to use this version, get the one they made available to me, just make sure that the packages refer to 5.4.211, so plugins that require some kmod won't work.

I already have and am on -op24...An explanation by GL.iNet about why they removed it might have been nice.

@gaby

Do you use SQM?

Since you are using a DHCP WAN connection you could try to disable MSS clamping for the WAN port under the firewall settings.

I'm going to test this in a few minutes, but there's several here with same upload issues so it must be a default setting somewhere :joy:

@bonefire Same result (via LAN cable):

Has anyone here managed to install Docker on the OpenWRT 24 based firmware?

I'm just getting these errors:

I used to have Docker on the OpenWRT 23 based firmware and then it broke with the 21.02 one (couldn't reinstall it due to a package missing)

In a few posts above I mentioned that the 24.xx firmware packages were mistakenly changed to kernel 5.4.211, which probably refers to the mt3000.
So, if you are on 24.xx, either you pull the packages directly from openwrt or wait for them to compile again with the correct packages.

the removal was because one of the developers responsible for compiling and releasing the firmware and packages did something wrong by compiling a 24.xx firmware with kernel 5.4.238 and on top of that updating the packages in the repository that previously belonged to kernel 6.6.30 for 5.4.211 erroneously as mentioned above.

That's probably the explanation.

Using v4.6.0, latest snapshot (5/30), and v4.6.0-opa24 made no difference, my upload still limited to 120-170Mbps via WIFi, and around 200-250 Mbps via Ethernet.

The speed when a VPN client is enable is around 50-70Mbps.

Tried the following:

  • disable tcpmss on WAN
  • enable hardware acceleration
  • enable packet offloloading (via luci)
  • enable software/hardware offload (via luci)
  • disabling all the wifi
  • replacing cables
  • connecting laptop directly to Flint 2
  • using a different port for LAN

Upload speed issue happens across all options. This does not happen with Google Nest Router which out of the box gives me 700-800Mbps upload.

I think my only option is to return the Flint 2, and stick with the Nest Router.

Don't you wonder that for 95% of people this new software works almost perfectly and you still have problems?

Added src/gz openwrt_packages https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/targets/mediatek/filogic/packages/
But it’s giving me packages that require the 6.6.32 kernel

Only package I need from that feed to be able to install Docker is kmod-fs-btrfs

There is a new version released today with Kernel 6.6.32
Check it on GL.iNet download center (top menu OPENWRT 24)

For those making tests, would be nice to inform which version exactly you are testing.

Instead of saying "latest firmware", inform the version, like:

  • openwrt-mt6000-4.6.0-op24-0531-1717133438
  • openwrt-mt6000-4.6.0-0531-1717101206
  • openwrt-mt6000-4.6.0-0513-1715603647
  • openwrt-mt6000-4.5.8-0412-1712898190

Updated to it and I still can’t install kmod-fs-btrfs

The installed version of package kernel is not compatible, require 6.6.32~3e619e4a…-r1 while 6.6.32~a5739d61…-r1 is installed.

You should do that :call_me_hand:

Yes, when I try to install sqm it presents an error mentioning that the packages for kernel 5.4.211 are not available. I did the installation using uboot, that is, clean.

exactly like this error you reported

@alzhao

Their repo is messed up and the OpenWRT one isn’t helping either due to it being more up to date by a few hours :skull:

Can you try again? I think we just updated.

Could you check if it was resolved? I'm not home to test at the moment
