GL-BE3600 (Slate 7), firmware 4.7.1 Repeater

Hello!

I'm running my new GL-BE3600 (Slate 7), firmware 4.7.1 (2025-03-07). I'm configuring it Repeater to connect to my wifi via Orbi, which is around 980mbps but on the slate 7, I am only getting 4/5mbps.
On my AX1800, I am getting 100-105mbps with Repeater - I am getting 60mbps via NordVPN.

Is there a issue with Slate 7 firmware? Also shouldn't the Repeater mirror at least 50-80% of my internet without VPN?

Hi,

When the Slate 7 repeats the primary router Orbi WiFi, is it repeated 5GHz WiFi of Orbi?

Is the Orbi WiFi dual-band integrated?
If yes, try to disable the dual-band integrated, or enable a 5GHz WiFi alone for the Slate7 to test.

I have tried both my ATT router or my Orbi router which has separate 5G/2g not using the dual band feature but it’s still very slow.

Hello,

It seems you are not alone.

I can confirm that there is a problem with Slate 7 running in repeater mode.
AXT 1800 works with the same remote router in repeater mode just fine.
The client is connected using wired connection, I tried to select 2.4 / 5GHz bands to connect to the remote router - it made no difference. I also tried to disable MLO AP - the speed is really low in comparison with AXT 1800.

So, there is a problem, indeed.

Helle,

We'd like to check this issue remotely to the router via GoodCloud.
Could you please share both the BE3600 and the AXT1800 with us?

In addition to connecting the repeater to the primary router, please also connect a wired WAN or tethering.
When we debug the repeater, we will debug dis- and re-connect the repeater. In this way, when the repeater is disconnected, remote connection can still be maintained via wired WAN or tethering.

Please PM me the router MAC and login Web UI password.

It might be worth posting a link to this thread I also created here, because it sounds like possibly the same issue: Slate 7 consistently slower than Beryl AX in repeater mode

Hello,

Sorry for this issue, could you please share your router Slate7 and Beryl AX with us via GoodCloud?

Sure. I've enabled GoodCloud on both of them, but how do I share the details with you?

I think I figured it out. They are both being shared with GL-Inet tech support now. I'm registered with the same username I have on the forum.

I have setup both routers with GoodCloud now.

I had to move the Beryl, so it's literally right next to the Flint 2 router that I'm repeating from, so it will have a much stronger signal than the Slate 7 now. The Beryl is connected via ethernet to the Flint 2 as well.

The Slate is repeating and I've also setup tethering on my phone as you suggested so you can fall back to that connection when you turn repeating off.

The Slate gets speeds around 200mbps here, but the Beryl was getting around 400 in the same position in the same room before I moved it to connect it to the Flint 2.

Thank you for your help and sharing.

R&D team is arranging the inspection of this issue.

EDIT:
Seems the MT3000 did not enable the rttyWeb and rttySSH.
Please enable them, we required to check the wireless info.

I’ve just switched these settings on. Please ask them to try again. Thanks!

Just wanted to check if they were able to access now?

Sorry for the late reply, we have had a holiday last few day.

Please start BE3600 again and connect to GoodCloud (I see that MT3000 is started and shows online in GoodCloud).

Please place the BE3600 and MT3000 as in the same location as possible (or as the same distance from the main router as possible).

We will conduct an inspection.

Hi there,

Does the issue improve now?
If the router still reproduces this issue, please let us know.

Hi @bruce .

It's still an issue, unfortunately. I've shared the routers again.

The Beryl is physically right next to the router though as I have to do that to give it an ethernet connection, whereas the slate is upstairs away from the router.

But I can tell you that given the same settings they both have, I was getting x2 the speed with the Beryl that I'm seeing on the slate now.

I've shared it all again so could you please see if they can take a look?

Thanks!

For reference, in the room the slate 7 is in now, I'm seeing speeds of about 250 Mbps.

When I had the Beryl in the same position, it was getting speeds of around 400-500 Mbps here.

I can put the Beryl in the same position, but it won't be connected to ethernet or tethered. Would that be ok?

Yes, it is ok.
Since same location of them is priority, the comparison test will be more accurate.

Thanks.

Ok, I'll move it. It'll be in the same position in about 10 minutes, thanks
