I assume the screen consumption is not high, the mainly is the CPU, PHY, SFP+ and FEM
Let’s say 2.5W… This is 10% of the specified power consumption.
Turning it off completely guarantees there is one less component to fail, and also ensures that nobody will tamper with features they shouldn't be changing.

I agree also with @Renato on this, in a server cabinet this will accelerate heat.
Having a permanent off feature or after boot at startup having it off would be really nice welcome feature

Not everyone has it in a server rack? And how often do these components fail in router? I feel this subject gets totally out of control.
I want this, I don’t want that! Make me a router with that but without this.

Well what is the issue?, it is just a minor software request not a request to remove screen.

You can’t disconnect the power to the display if it wasn’t accounted for on the PCB. So, even if you turn off the display via software, it might draw power.
I might just open the device and unplug the connector to the display.

I'm currently using the MT6000, and I have to say it's more than enough for me. I plan to upgrade to the next router when the Wi-Fi 8 standard is released, because right now I don't see any point in switching from the router I have now to a Wi-Fi 7 model.

Same…However when it becomes available and if the price is right (And IF I can order from the U.S.) I probably won’t be able to resist. But if it’s not availabe for ordering from the U.S. at least initially then I’ll wait.

Heh), they aren't officially sold here in Ukraine-they're only available on the black market, so that adds 30-40% to the price)
But then again, I needed a router with powerful Wi-Fi and hardware, and it’s a nice bonus that it looks pretty presentable, so the Flint 2 is the perfect choice for me-it meets all my needs. The only thing I’d like to see is more built-in features and settings in the Glinet firmware.
The router will eventually become outdated, just like Wi-Fi 6 itself, so the next one I’ll upgrade to will be when Wi-Fi 8 comes out.
