So…more than a year after the problem first surfaced…and 10 months after the last “resolution” and since yesterday I’ve got a bricked AX-3000 again.
Due to the substation fire near Heathrow, the wider local area had a power cut.
These fragile iNet products do not like Unexpected interruptions to the power.
Factory reset (10 second method) didn’t work.
UBoot firmware reset didn’t work.
UBoot update itself didn’t work.
Tried Spitz AX (GL-X3000) Bricked - uboot won't work - #5 by CasaP to rename the firmware files for both uBoot and the Spitz itself - the iBoot web interface showed a successful update but failed to reboot the spitz itself after 30 minutes.
The first time round I had requested a warranty replacement but they asked me to ship it (at my cost) to a random house in the UK before shipping me out another unit. This was after they’d verified there was a problem.
I didn’t have the time to be without the modem so when we barely managed to unbrick it the first time - I left the EE sim in a tethered phone and never used the native modem.
After a firmware update in late 2024 the modem failed to initialise at all and hasn’t worked consistently ever.
Now it’s bricked, I’m looking for a non-GL alternative and once I’ve got whitchever unit working - this Spitz product will go in the bin. £400 wasted.
