If I had to guess, complete lack of SQA or regression testing before pushing out an untested bug filled update to the public.
Some users reported encountering strange issues with version 1.7.0, such as devices losing their IP addresses, being unable to access the network, and blinking white lights.
However, we have been unable to reproduce this issue in our environment. It didn't happen in our testing process. We are diligently contact with the users meeting this issue and find out the reason.
You might can downgrade to 1.5.1, or keep using 1.7. But PLEASE NOTE that, as we know, if the issue happen, it can only be solve by unplug and replug the Ethernet cable.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused anyway, we will fix it ASAP.

This morning i found one more time the RM1PE blinking white led and with no access. Instead of reboot the device i rebooted the router. Once the router came up the connection with the RM1PE restored. I have setup the device for static ip. Before I reboot the router the router reported that there was no device connected. I updated from 1.7.0 to 1.7.1 beta for testing again.

Please try with the 1.7.1 beta and see if can solve the problem.
If convenient, could you please set the lease time of DHCP server in your router to 2 mins?
It will be more efficient for checking if it can work stably.

i had 1.7 and all was good. i just got 1.71 release 1 and tailscale stopped working. Date/Time is not set correctly on the KVM…

In 1.7.1 we add ntpd back , and disable connman build-in ntp client. So I guest your comet can only access the ntp server which DHCP assigned?

The way things have turned out so far is just ridiculous
- Some users report that the system may randomly disconnect when we keep CONNMAN NTP and disabled NTPD.
- If NTPD is kept while CONNMAN NTP is disabled, users like you won't be able to update their time.
- If we keep both sides as we did initially, someone will come running and say we're bombing the NTP server.
Version 1.7.1 is still bombarding my NTP server, even when overriding the /etc/ntp.conf file and will not sync time. Even if a stop the NTPD daemon. Based on the source port, my guess is the CONNMAND NTP is not disabled.

I had to add an IPTABLES rule to block non-port 123 NTP requests coming from CONNMAND. CONNMAN uses a random source port, NTPD uses source port 123.

Looks like the file that requires the CONNMAN NTP setting to manual is the following

No way. The /etc/kvmd/user/connman directory isn't included in the firmware. This is dynamically generated by Connman, and there's no way to automatically add something to it.
Fuck it, I'll just disable it by modifying the connman source code directly.
I performed a local upgrade and kept previous settings. Maybe the directory persists if you keep settings.
BTW, still have to disable the LED status to stop bombarding public DNS servers with ICMP pings. I also block all internet traffic from the GL-RM1 since it keeps phoning home even with cloud access disabled.

We're unlikely to modify ICMP anymore. Even if we switch to HTTP packets for network detection, it would only make packet sniffing more difficult. In fact,CONNMAN itself already implements similar functionality.

Thanks for the quick turn. Although CONNMAN NTP appears to be disabled, NTPD is still bombarding my NTP server and can’t sync time.

Only after a second reboot.
Looks like CONNMAN is still generating the files upon boot up, but before time is sync’ed, thus the files have a time stamp from Unix epoch time of December 31, 1969
